Vistelsen vid High Coast Destillery genomf\u00f6rdes i samarbete med H\u00f6ga Kusten Turistservice<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Ett s\u00e5gverk som lade ner. En tom fabriksbyggnad med skorsten. Bel\u00e4gen vid \u00c5ngerman\u00e4lvens strand. Man tillverkade material till l\u00e5dor h\u00e4r. L\u00e5dor som exporterades. L\u00e5da heter Box p\u00e5 engelska. Och s\u00e5 fick \u00e4ven platsen heta. I folkmun.<\/p>\n

Den tomma fabriksbyggnaden skulle rivas. Den stod ju bara d\u00e4r och f\u00f6rf\u00f6ll. Men en konstn\u00e4r ville k\u00f6pa och inr\u00e4ttade en atelj\u00e9. S\u00e5dan verksamhet kan vara tuff att f\u00e5 att g\u00e5 runt och vid en tidpunkt var det liksom bara dags att g\u00f6ra n\u00e5got annat. N\u00e5got som bar sig. Men vad skulle man hitta p\u00e5?<\/p>\n

Det blev whisky konstn\u00e4ren, hans bror och en handfull entusiaster valde att satsa p\u00e5.<\/p>\n

Efter Mackmyra-modellen finansierade man verksamheten delvis genom att s\u00e4lja fat till allm\u00e4nheten. Fatet k\u00f6ps innan whiskyn \u00e4r lagrad och man f\u00e5r p\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt in kapital under de \u00e5r det tar att f\u00e5 fram den f\u00f6rsta f\u00e4rdiga whiskyn.<\/p>\n

Whisky \u00e4r enklare \u00e4n vin eftersom man k\u00f6per r\u00e5varan f\u00e4rdig i st\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att odla sj\u00e4lv<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Den gamla fabriksbyggnaden luktar, l\u00e5ter och ryker. 4 fantastiska kopparpannor destillerar drycker f\u00f6r fulla fat. Vi \u00e4r idag ensamma p\u00e5 f\u00f6rmiddagsvisningen av destilleriet. S\u00e4songen b\u00f6rjar ta slut. Vi f\u00e5r en grundlig genomg\u00e5ng av hur det g\u00e5r till att g\u00f6ra whisky. 19 personer jobbar h\u00e4r.<\/p>\n

Platsen \u00e4r perfekt f\u00f6r ett whiskydestilleri av flera orsaker. \u00c5ngerman\u00e4lven ger obegr\u00e4nsad tillg\u00e5ng till kylvatten och det norrl\u00e4ndska klimatet adderar maximalt med smak till drycken under lagringen. Varje g\u00e5ng temperaturen f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras, stiger och sjunker tycket i tunnorna och whiskyn tr\u00e4nger in och ut ur tr\u00e4et.<\/p>\n

Som avslutning f\u00e5r vi f\u00f6rst\u00e5s prova. Man har ett nybyggt visitorscenter med restaurang, shop och stor terrass mot \u00e4lven. Vi f\u00e5r prova tre sorter. Ett glas fr\u00e5n sortimentet som finns p\u00e5 flaska p\u00e5 Systembolaget, en or\u00f6kig ”specialare” med citrustoner fr\u00e5n Sherryfat och en riktigt r\u00f6kig variant fr\u00e5n fat av svensk ek. Det \u00e4r bara f\u00f6rmiddag, s\u00e5 vi smuttar f\u00f6rsiktigt och spottar.<\/p>\n

Box var det ja, s\u00e5 har man allts\u00e5 hetat fram till nu i sommar. Nya namnet \u00e4r High Coast Destillery<\/em><\/strong>. F\u00f6r att kunna exportera till USA, d\u00e4r namnet Box redan \u00e4r upptaget. Och kanske lite f\u00f6r att slippa f\u00e5 fr\u00e5gan:<\/p>\n

-\u00c4r det l\u00e5d-whisky ni g\u00f6r d\u00e5 eller?<\/p>\n

Vi \u00e4r inga whisky-fanatiker vi erk\u00e4nner. Kan mycket lite om denna dryck. Men vi tycker att det h\u00e4r \u00e4r s\u00e5 kul. Ett av v\u00e4rldens nordligaste destillerier. Med h\u00f6g svansf\u00f6ring, whisky i v\u00e4rldsklass och med egna smaksegment. G\u00e5rdsf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljning \u00e4r \u00e4nnu s\u00e5 l\u00e4nge f\u00f6rbjudet i Sverige. Men vi kommer hem med varsin tom Box-glasflaska i v\u00e4skan. Att servera vatten i, s\u00e5 l\u00e4nge.<\/p>\n
